Covid-19: Sarawak reports 356 new cases on Monday (May 3), with 76 clusters still active


KUCHING: Sarawak reported 356 new Covid-19 cases on Monday (May 3), with 63% detected in five districts, says the state disaster management committee.
In a statement, it said the highest numbers of cases were found in Miri (80), Sibu (74), Kuching (29), Sebauh (21) and Selangau (20).
Other districts which recorded cases were Kapit (18), Pakan and Meradong (16 each), Subis (15), Bintulu (13), Sarikei (12), Song (11), Kanowit, Julau, Sri Aman and Betong (five each), Beluru, Samarahan and Tatau (two each) and Marudi, Saratok, Limbang, Bau and Mukah (one each).
This takes the state s cumulative tally of confirmed cases to 32,047.
The committee also said there were two fatalities, bringing the death toll to 184. ....

LUMPUR: The number of new Covid-19 cases jumped to 3,418 over the last 24 hours compared to 2,881 cases yesterday.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, in his tweet, said the cumulative number of Covid-19 positive cases in the country now stood at 415,012.
He said Selangor has the highest number of new cases with 1,200 cases, followed by Sarawak (587) and Kelantan (400).
Johor recorded 213 cases; Kuala Lumpur (198); Terengganu (184); Penang (145); Sabah (115); Kedah (101); Perak (77); Negeri Sembilan (73); Melaka (61); Pahang (45); Putrajaya (eight); Labuan (seven) and Perlis (four).
Dr Noor Hisham, in a statement, said that in the last 24 hours a total of 2,698 recovered cases were recorded, bringing the cumulative number of recoveries to 383,140, while active cases stood at 30,339. ....

KUALA LUMPUR (April 16): For the first time in 40 days, Malaysia’s daily Covid-19 cases crossed the 2,000 mark yesterday.
And today, daily cases stayed above the 2,000 level, climbing further to 2,551 from 2,148 yesterday. This is the highest number of infections seen in over two months.
This shows that the Malaysia s Covid-19 infections curve is steepening again.
The cumulative confirmed infections has now soared to 370,528, from 115,078 as at Jan 1.
New cases were back above the 1,000 mark over the last 18 days, after briefly falling to 941 on March 29. Prior to that, new cases had continuously stayed above the 1,000 mark for over four months. ....
