you have an overwhelming number of republicans in part because inform movement? >> i think it is they are closer on issues to the republicans than the democrats. as we've seen in delaware with castle's refuseal to support christine o'donnell there's no love lost there. in terms of stimulating turn out for the primaries the tea parties dessert ever the bulk of the credit. >> could they divide and hurt the republicans at the end of the day? >> certainly possible in some isolated races. like delaware where castle has refused to support o'donnell. now in alaska where senator murkowski say they will run as a write-in candidate. the positive impact of electoral mobilization of the tea parties far outweighs any tactical disadvantage. >> what about the criticism they are too extreme and some positions won't wash with the vast majority of voters in
party movement's victory in delaware. some of the biggest, biggest names in the gop establishment begrudgingly offering some words of support today for the senate nominee christine o'donnell, the man she defeated, former governormike castle says there's zero chance he will support o'donnell. a series of losses by republican candidates in alaska, kentucky and colorado. let's go to dana bash. you getting reaction from some of those gop establishment leaders, what are they saying? >> reporter: make no mistake, privately republican leaders are still saying they're very upset about the upsets of last night. they saw the light, so to speak when the sun came up this morning, and they are saying things very differently today. they realize that they have to get behind this republican candidate for many reasons, most importantly, they want those
committee that helps republican senate candidates says they will not give any money to o'donnell. no financial support for her. and that is part of the -- big part of the story. bill: sure is. and moments ago, martha, republican leader mitch mccom said he will support o'donnell. dana perino is former white house press secretary, fox news contributor with me in new york. good morning to you, always good to have you in person. last night tells you what? >> that turnout is more important than ever, and certainly, on the tea party -- from the tea party standpoint, they burned out a -- turned out a lot of people, but it wasn't just tea party republicans. and i think that we'll need to do analysis to see where that all came down, but interesting to me that she didn't just win by the hair of her chiny chin chin. she ran away with it. bill: also from a guy who's been a stalwart in politics in the state of tkelsz. >> he's never lost a race and she's never won a race. bill: that's true, she's now, what, one for three and he swept the bullet throughout his careers.
