Brookline to follow commonwealth’s plan to rescind face cover order COURTESY OF TOWN ADMINISTRATOR The town of Brookline and Health Commissioner Dr. Swannie Jett announced that, in conjunction with the announcement made by Gov. Charlie Baker, the town will be rescinding its face cover order along with the rest of the commonwealth May 29. The Baker-Polito administration announced May 17 that the commonwealth is on track to meet the goal of vaccinating 4.1 million residents by the first week of June, and all remaining COVID-19 restrictions will be lifted effective May 29. The commonwealth’s face covering order will also be rescinded May 29. The Department of Public Health will issue a new face covering advisory consistent with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s updated guidance. Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine was granted emergency use authorization by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on May 10 and became immediately available to those ages 12 to 15 following a meeting of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Vaccine Advisory Committee on May 12. Those 16 and older have been authorized to receive the Pfizer vaccine since Dec. 2020 and eligible in Massachusetts since April 19. ....
