Alice Echo News Journal
This passed year has been especially hard for anyone in the medical field. They have had to care for patients like never before and many of these patients have been alone in a nurses care due to the coronavirus and the safety guidelines in place.
Nurses have taken on roles they never expected. Nurses became family and friends for those who visited the hospital for any health issue.
On Wednesday, May 12, CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Alice celebrated its nurses by announcing the latest Nurse of the Year and the Daisy and Sunshine Award recipients.
Ray Gutierrez, Jr., passed away on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, in Austin, Texas.
He was born on February 7, 1977, in De Leon, Texas, to Raymond Gutierrez, Sr. and Esmeralda (Barron) Gutierrez. On December 13, 1999, he was united in marriage to Jessica Tiemann in Comanche, Texas. Ray was a strong family man, devoted to his wife and children, and absolutely loved ALL of his family. He was a long time employee of Texas Department of Transportation and was a member of Priddy I.S.D. School Board. He was always willing to lend a helping hand in community affairs. He loved all the children of Priddy and they all loved him back. They never called him Mr. Gutierrez, but gave him a nickname of “Ray Ray”. Ray had a constant supply of dollar bills and quarters, which he handed out to the kids at ball games and other activities when the parents said “no more sugar”. In his spare time he loved hunting, fishing, and his true passion, hunting for arrowheads.
