#IFJBlog: Gaza's journalists face hunger as well as bombing

The horrific death toll among Gaza’s journalists has become a familiar headline. Ten per cent of the enclave’s media workers have been killed since 7 October – a mortality rate significantly in excess of combat soldiers in most wars. Less well-known are the privations of those of Gaza’s journalists who continue to work, and – since the exclusion of international reporters from the enclave – are the only source of news from Gaza.

#IFJBlog: Generosity from journalists' unions is required to keep cameras rolling in Gaza

Observing the unfolding tragedy in Gaza from a distance, it is easy to become inured to the horror. The death toll climbs, but the real human waste becomes increasingly lost behind the grisly tally.

Palestine: Give now to keep Gaza's cameras rolling

Palestinian journalists’ leader, Nasser Abu Baker has launched an emotional appeal to help Gaza’s journalists and media workers. “We are in desperate need to support our colleagues in Gaza, most of whom have lost their homes, many of whom have lost family. They need your solidarity and help to continue reporting on the atrocities endured day and night by the people of Gaza.”

#IFJBlog: Hope in short supply as journalists' death toll mounts

The pace at which the journalists’ death toll is growing in Gaza is without precedent. But it is the slaughter of the entire family of a journalist that may ultimately become emblematic of the extraordinary bravery of Palestinian reporters during this conflict.
