Saudi Arabia's GAMI, UAE's Tawazun ink MoU on defense industry cooperation

ABU DHABI Saudi Arabia’s General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI) and UAE s Tawazun Economic Council on Monday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the sidelines of the International Defense Exhibition and Conference (IDEX 2021), currently underway in Abu Dhabi.
The MoU aims to build strategic relations of cooperation, partnership and integration between the two sides to enhance the capabilities of the defense industries sector, explore potentials for joint projects and identify areas of cooperation in defense industry-related Research & Development (R&D).
The MoU was signed by Ahmed bin Abdulazis Al-Ohali, governor of GAMI, and Jassem Mohammed Bu Ataba AlZaabi, chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Finance and secretary general of Tawazun’s Board of Directors. ....

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates Swedish firm Saab will launch research and development efforts for sensor technology in the United Arab Emirates under multiple agreements it signed Sunday at the International Defence Exhibition and Conference in Abu Dhabi.
Saab will also participate in the educational program Sustain and Enhance Emiratization in Defence and Security, or SEEDS, as part of the agreements it signed with the Tawazun Economic Council and the Tawazun Technology and Innovation business. The council is an organization focused on the defense and security industry, and is charged with developing a locally sustainable sector. ....

CEO of Tawazun addresses challenges facing UAE defence industry during International Defense Conference 2021

ABU DHABI, 20th February, 2021 (WAM) Tareq Abdulrahman Al Hosani, CEO of Tawazun, addressed the challenges facing the UAE defence industry today, as he participated in the third panel of the 2021 International Defense Conference today.
There were four main in person and virtual sessions; the first session discussed ways to protect artificial intelligence and other Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies from misuse, the second session focused on supply chain disruptions in the defense sector. The third session discussed ways to enhance research and development in defense industries in light of the rapid changes and growing resilience of the defense industry, and the final session examined the challenges arising from the use of modern digital technologies in cybersecurity and the implications of those challenges on defense sector decisions. ....
