They say the fires were likely a report result of flares left behind by caltrans maintenance workers. Now, caltrans engineers spent the day investigating those mysterious fires after a blaze broke out this afternoon. That fire occurred on the very same spot on the bridge where flames erupt edmond night. A driver captured that fire and posted a photo on twitter. After reviewing bridge Surveillance Video today and finding flare remnants at the fire scene, caltrans now feels pretty confident they know the cause. Flares were left near the eastbound number one lane and it is thought at this point in time that they are the likely cause of the fire on monday night and today.
