our political ticker at the bottom of the hour about the retirement of barney frank. they had a revolution. they ve ousted a ruler and now they are about to do something that is probably the most important thing that they have done and that is get out and vote. egyptians are hitting the polls today. they are out voting. it is the first in a series of elections for parliament and president. they are all under way. even in the midst of egypt s second major uprising of the year. the goal of both is the same an end to military rule which replaced the regime of long-time president hosni mubarak in february. turnout is surprisingly strong. voting for parliament will take stages. the presidential elections are set for june. pakistan says no more business as usual with the u.s. after a weekend air strike that nato calls tragic and unintended. nato helicopters from afghanistan opened fire on pakistani forces at the border killing 24 and wounding several others. afghan offi ....

burning. i saw people around me, they got it really bad. i tried to get away from it as quickly as possible, because i didn t think that was worth it. no deal is worth that. nba players and owners reached a tentative deal this morning to end a month-long lockout. they are set to resume on christmas day. if the players ratify the agreement, the plan is to start a 66-game season with a triple header. the lockout has lasted 149 days. president obama even commented on the deal, giving it a thumbs up. what s the nba story? good deal. and the family of a florida a&m drum major who died last weekend may be preparing to sue the school. authorities suspect robert champion s death was caused by hazing. no one has been charged but champion s family has hired an attorney. the school fired the band director this week and he has hired a lawyer to fight for his job. the federal government is investigating the chevy volt over fears the electric car s batteries may pose a fire r ....

cnn newsroom starts right now. happy black friday. one in four americans says that he or she plans to shop on this busy shopping day and the crowds are coming out. at times, however, things do get out of hand like at this walmart near los angeles. authorities say a woman waiting in line pepper sprayed other customers, apparently, so she could get a better place in line. ten people were hurt when the crowd scattered. no serious injuries reported. the woman paid for her items and ran out of the store and detectives are hoping that a security camera will help identify her. and there was another wild morning at a walmart near orlando and police say two men started fighting at the jewelry counter. one of them allegedly resisted arrest and officers ended up wrestling him to the ground. okay, hopefully these are just exceptions and it s an important day in the united states, as well. as far as the economy is concerned. so much of this economy relies on consumer spendin ....
