Hermiston History: County begins flood recovery


Now comes the hard part.
With flood waters having receded, residents of Umatilla County and 13 other counties in the state have begun the arduous tasks of estimating the amount of damage and rebuilding.
State Treasurer Jim Hill said help is on the way for some victims of the flood.
“It’s clear that the federal government will provide significant help to both individuals and government agencies hit by the flood,” Hill said.

Based in British Columbia, Nalley’s Canada Limited is strongly considering Hermiston as a location to open a chip plant, said Tim Gilleese, president of the Hermiston Development Corporation.
