New St George Illawarra coach Anthony Griffin has made a lot of changes since taking charge of the Dragons this season but one thing he hasn’t felt the need to do is overhaul the club’s culture.
“Hook jokes about it all the time,” former NSW Origin forward Tariq Sims said. “He says he’s been looking for dickheads and he can’t find any.”
Captain Ben Hunt added: “Hook’s always saying how he’s been here for three months and he’s been trying to find a dickhead but he hasn’t been able to”.
The external expectations for the Dragons in 2021 may be lower than in recent seasons, particularly after their 48-16 humbling by South Sydney in the Charity Shield, but internally the standards have rarely been higher.

Here are my predictions for which teams will finished 13th, 12th and 11th on the NRL ladder this season.
13. Brisbane Broncos (last year 16th)
If 2020 was represented through an NRL team, it would certainly be the Brisbane Broncos. The Broncos had their worst year in club history as they picked up their first ever wooden spoon.
Things looked promising for the Broncos before the league was postponed due to COVID-19 as they had two convincing wins on the board, coming against the Cowboys and the Rabbitohs. After the COVID-19 shutdown I was proved wrong when I thought they would be a team to beat.

The Dragons have had to give up many big-name players, including Duan Aiken, Tyson Frizzell, Jacob Host, Tim Lafai, Jason Saab, Tristian Saylor and Korbin Sims and also had to deal with the retirement of James Graham.
This has destroyed the Dragons’ hopes of any sort of finals appearance this season, and if they were not hurt enough with these departures, they had the killer bullet fired at them as Cameron McInnes suffered a ruptured ACL and will almost certainly miss all of 2021, before heading to rivals Cronulla Sharks in 2022.
