Shoreham DJs fight fears for wing walk supporting mental health in the music industry
Shoreham DJs Just a Couple of Mums are planning a wing walk in September to raise money for a charity helping people in the music industry with their mental health.

Jules Mcglough and Anna Davies will be wearing their trademark curlers and waving feather dusters when they fly up into the air with Barry’s Flying Circus.
The best friends say they are terrified of heights but cannot wait to brave wing walking to raise awareness of mental health.
They are raising money for an innovative free programme launched by Tonic Music for Mental Health earlier this year.

Inspirational Edinburgh Doctor braves charity wing-walk months after near fatal accident

Jim Ashworth-Beaumont today, ready for the challenges ahead
In a coma for five and a half weeks, his right arm amputated above the elbow, he faced the likelihood of being hospital bound for the rest of his life due to damage to his internal organs. That was if he survived, doctors held little hope for the triathlete and former Marine from Edinburgh.
Less than a year on from the near fatal accident, the 55-year-old who was brought up near the Dean Bridge has defied all expectations. Well on the way to recovery, he's just returned to work with the NHS where, as irony would have it, he is a prosthetist and orthotist at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital.

Terry Hall of The Specials and Dub Pistols’ Barry Ashworth have partnered with mental health organisation Tonic Music to launch a new programme for music industry workers, Tonic Rider.
The programme aims to provide guides, mental health first aid training to grassroots venues and in-person support stands. Tonic Rider was piloted at the 100 Club in London and the Wedgewood Rooms in Portsmouth. Organisers hope to roll out the programme to green rooms, festivals and Night Time Industries Association members, as well as include it on rider lists and wall posters.
As
Musicweek reports, the programme will also offer peer group sessions hosted by Babyshambles’ Adam Ficek (who is also a psychotherapist) and workshops on performance anxiety, acceptance and commitment therapy, mindfulness and more topics.
