Some sort no, i seriously doubt that anyone would try to land a jetliner in the water at night. imagine hitting the water at 100, 200, 300 miles an hour. it s going to make the airplane splatter into pieces. reporter: isn t it surprising that we haven t seen any debris anywhere? i think there is debris. the ocean is huge. i don t know if all of the ocean has been looked at. i doubt it. my guess is, and it s strictly a guess, that they will find pieces of this airplane soon. reporter: the idea that the transponder was turned off deliberately. it stopped working because somebody turned it off or perhaps there was a electrical fire or some kind of problem in that airplane that depowered the transponder. we don t know what happened. reporter: and because we don t know what happened, he argues the pilots should be given the benefit of the doubt. the idea that their legacy is ....

We don t know when specifically it was entered. what s concerning to me or actually helpful, at the last hand off at the all right good night they didn t indicate any of the hijack codes. so that lessens my concern that they were being commandeered, that there was somebody in the cockpit. you d have two opportunities to do that, the transponder and verbal code. michael you broke the story at the new york times of that cold being entered into the system last night. nbc saying this was 12 minutes before the all right good night, how do you read that? to some it makes it even more likely this was a deliberate act. yeah. it certainly makes the issue of foul play seem more significant. because bay doing that, what it basically shows is that this thing was already headed in a different direction when they re saying good night. that just really sort of reinforces this whole notion that someone was trying to take it in a different place and take it down. but it still doesn t make sense t ....

Bases, two are main operating bases and one is a satellite base that could handle this aircraft in the pakistani air force. there are other falcon bases, but i ll talk about that later. so your theory, and i m interpreting here that this is based on information you are putting together, that would explain away the transponder purposely being turned off, and other communications being turned off, that would explain the ping that lasted up to seven hours later, when you consider the time frame flying out and changing course, it would also explain that the flight path altered by computer command and not by manual control. so what answer your theory would answer all those questions, right? it would, i believe both pilots may have been complicit, i believe that remember, turned off they didn t turn off communications, they turned ....

Out. okay. because as soon as the acars were turned off, the data part. the box, itself, wasn t turned off. that s how we got the ping, six hours of pings. the electronic balk was still active. it was just the data downburst. once we lost that, we lost the transponder. the airplane went out of radar coverage and we don t have eyes in sky, the satellite data to track this airplane. now it s anyone s guess and we will not get any more data. if the airplane is found and we have a cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder, it may shed light, but the cockpit voice recorder overwrites itself every two hours. every two hours. right. so this may be the end of the road in terms of the data we get until we find that flight. greg feith, former senior investigator with the ntsb, which of course is considered to be the global gold standard agency for investigating events like this. thank you for helping us understand this. you re welcome. the intrepid richard engel is right where yo ....
