London’s Vagina Museum is set to reopen this month with an exhibition dedicated to the history of menstruation.
The Vagina Museum, which started as a pop-up in 2017, opened as the world’s first museum dedicated to vaginas, vulvas and gynaecological anatomy in September 2019. The bricks-and-mortar museum in Camden market was closed for much of 2020 and 2021 due to the ongoing pandemic, but it’s set to open its doors once again on Friday, 21 May.
The Vagina Museum will be celebrating its reopening with a temporary exhibit titled “Periods: A Brief History“. The exhibition will examine the historic perceptions and beliefs around menstruation and the impact this has had on society. It will also highlight the ongoing issues that surround periods, how menstruation is perceived and how a lack of understanding has impacted the lives of people in the modern age.

Camden market s Vagina Museums reopens this month with its second exhibition on the history of menstruation.
The museum opened in Stables Market in November 2019 with an inaugural display about vagina myths - Muff Busters - which drew more than 110,000 visitors.
Closed for much of 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic, the world s first bricks and mortar museum dedicated to vaginas and gynaecological anatomy opens its doors once again on May 21.
Sponsored by The Body Shop, Periods: A Brief History aims to bust the veil of shame and taboo that exists around menstruation. It ranges from historic perceptions and beliefs dating from Ancient Greece to the present day, to what people used before the invention of tampons and sanitary pads, to looking at how period shame has been impacted by culture, religion and a lack of understanding about what the monthly bleed actually is. Other issues include whether it is possible to have an environmentally sustainable period.

It s back again - and ready to sprinkle a little joy into your life!
Apr 1, 2021
We won’t go on about it (unprecedented, banana bread, social distancing etc.) but the last twelve months have been an emotional rollercoaster for us all. Being separated from loved ones has seen many of us spending a tonne more time on social media – meaning it’s more important than ever to have a beautifully diverse and uplifting feed to scroll through.
Back in the offline world, there are also plenty of heroes doing incredible (and genuinely life-changing) things to take note of too – so we’ve reunited with Instagram and anti-bullying charity Cybersmile to shout out all the change-makers, joy-bringers and people making our days just that little bit brighter.

Hackney and Islington women s organisations have launched a shoebox campaign to help tackle and raise awareness of period poverty.
Tricky Period, a volunteer-led grassroots group which works in Hackney, Islington, Camden and Haringey, has teamed up with Hackney s Akka Project, which was set up to challenge the issues and stigmas women face, such as period poverty.
The appeal for period products was launched on International Women s Day on March 8 and sets out not only to help people who are homeless, but also families and young people facing financial hardship.
