SINGAPORE — With global political tensions and economic uncertainty in 2023 carrying over into the new year, experts say the job market in the year ahead is uncertain but young workers can look out for some bright spots.

Salaries across most of Southeast Asia are expected to increase in 2024, according to the latest 2023 Salary Increase and Turnover Report for Southeast Asia by Aon.

While salaries in Singapore and Malaysia are expected to stay flat at 4% and 5% respectively, Indonesia (6.5%), the Philippines (5.5%), Thailand (4.9%), and Vietnam (8%) could see increases in 2024.

Findings made by not-for-profit partnership Business Improvement District (BID) anticipates that once fully complete, Sydney’s revitalised seven-kilometre stretch of western waterfront will generate up to $6.2 billion for the harbour city economy.
