Twitter is reportedly giving its Verification for Organizations to 10,000 major companies and 500 advertisers for free so they don’t have to pay the posted $1,000 a month rate for it.
In an open letter signed by the respective prime ministers of Ukraine, Moldova, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, the countries called on major tech companies, such as Meta's Facebook, to take action against the spread of disinformation.
Twitter is about to wind down its legacy verification program, meaning that anyone who has a blue check, but isn't subscribed to Twitter Blue will lose the mark.
Many "legacy" verified users are unhappy with the decision.
Blue checkmarks will still appear on Twitter, but users will now be charged $8 a month if they want to keep their check.
