Ginspiration: the distillery with a difference in Dublin 8

Pat O'Brien wears a loud floral shirt and drainpipe jeans, has a sweary mouth to rival fellow Mancunian Liam Gallagher and laughs like Santa Claus. "The world does not need another bloody bottle of gin," he booms, in response to my comment about how the Irish gin market seems pretty crowded these days.
We're in Stillgarden, Pat and wife Viki Baird's shiny new distillery in the Goldenbridge Industrial Estate, in the heart of Dublin's Inchicore. The distilling room's walls are hung with glass tubes packed with oddities like chunks of Werther's Original toffees, Tayto crisps, seaweed and marshmallows, all used by the Willy Wonka-inspired distillers to create their own off-the-wall gins and vodkas.

33 dead in 48 days: Police "disturbed" by horror road toll

Acting Chief Superintendent Ray Rohweder described Queensland's rising road toll as "disturbing" and has called on all road users to step up their game and simply "do the right thing".
A total of 33 people have been killed as a result of traffic crashes across the state this year - 15 more than the same time last year.

"I find that quite disturbing," Acting Chief Superintendent Rohweder said.
"We really need to get the message through to all those drivers out there using the road network that they need to obey the road rules.
"It is the driving public who decide how they conduct themselves on the road."
