footage from the traffic stop that lead to the death of tyre nichols. i'm todd piro. >> ashley: i'm ashley strohmier in for carley shimkus. five police officers were charged with murder in tyre nichols death. the community is mourning his tragic loss of life. >> our family is grief stricken and this is very hard to swallow. i want each and every one of you to protest in peace. i don't want us burning up our cities, tearing up the streets, that is not what my son stood out. if you are here for me and tyree, you will protest
prosecutors say five members police officers played in the death all now fired. those five officers off facing felony criminal charges, including second degree murder and aggravated kidnapping and assault today, tyree nichols, his family and their attorneys coming before cameras, speaking just hours before the footage is set to be released by police doesn't matter if the officer is a black officer, hispanic officer and a white officer. it is the culture that allows them to think they can do this to tyree attorney ben crump, acknowledging the memphis police department swift action in firing the officers, calling it a blueprint for cases like these going forward when we look at how these five black officers. who were caught on camera committing a crime. and when we look at how fast. chief and the police department.

in critical condition after what was reported broadly as confrontations with police, but his stepfather released this photo from the hospital saying, no one should look like this because of a traffic stop. nichols then died two days later. officials say the cause of death has not been determined but his family accused the police of beating him and causing him to suffer a heart attack. police say he had, a quote, medical emergency and he was running from officers. there was a memorial service held for him today and a gathering, a protest. this is outside the national civil rights museum in memphis. you can hear from his sister. >> tyree was our baby brother. anguish that this has caused my family, our lives will never be the same again. i just want justice for my baby brother. he did not deserve this. >> there's no doubt that this is already a tragedy.
