pollution: 'Red light on Gaadi off' campaign returns in Delhi from Thursday: Gopal Rai

The Delhi government is set to re-launch the "Red Light on Gaadi Off" campaign from October 26 to tackle vehicular pollution. The campaign encourages drivers to turn off their vehicles while waiting at traffic lights. Last year, the campaign was put on hold due to concerns over its effectiveness. Recent data analysis shows a decrease in PM10 pollution and an increase in PM2.5 concentration due to biomass burning and vehicular emissions. The reintroduced campaign will involve the general public, unlike previous years when civil defence volunteers were involved.
