On Tuesday, February 13, 2024, United States Treasurer Chief Lynn Malerba (Mohegan Tribe) addressed the National Congress of American Indians (NCAI) at its Executive Council Winter Session in Washington, D.C. to provide an update. Kutapatotamawush (thank you) to NCAI Board President Macarro, the entire NCAI Board, and Executive Director Larry Wright for inviting me to speak to this room full of honorable Tribal leaders here with us today. It is a pleasure to provide this update on behalf of the Department of the Treasury.
The free event will also include the unveiling of a new bronze statue of Marjorie Tallchief, Maria Tallchief s sister, which will replace the one that was stolen in 2022.
Members of the 25th Navajo Nation Council met with United States Treasurer Marilynn “Lynn” Malerba (Mohegan Tribe) on Wednesday in Washington, D.C. Representing the Navajo Nation Council were Delegates Vince James, Germaine Simonson, Eugenia Charles-Newton, and Nathan Notah. Malerba was appointed in June 2022 by President Joe Biden.
The Chickahominy Indian Tribe, located in Providence Forge, Virginia, welcomed United States Treasurer Marilynn “Lynn” Malerba (Mohegan Tribe) and Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Wally Adeyemo on Thursday to discuss the historic investments in Indian Country made by the Biden-Harris administration. During their visit, the Treasury leaders toured the Tribal Health Clinic and engaged with a family who had received assistance from the Homeowner Assistance Fund (HAF), a provision of the American Rescue Plan (ARP).
