Western Heights High School students Ashton McGarvie and Zach Jans achieved scholarship last year.
Despite a tough and unprecedented year in 2020, Rotorua students continued to excel in their academic ventures.
More than 10,400 students entered New Zealand Scholarship examinations last year, and of those who sat them, 2148
students were awarded one or more scholarships across the 36 subjects.
New Zealand Scholarship assesses students on their ability to demonstrate high-level critical thinking, abstraction and generalisation.
John Paul College topped the list of Bay of Plenty recipients with students achieving 15 Scholarships and three Outstanding Scholarships. ....

Research: Indonesian female academics bear the brunt of the pandemic

(MENAFN - The Conversation) COVID-19 has brought an unprecedented crisis to universities around the world. But female academics in Indonesian universities are facing additional constraints.
Women do not hold the highest-level executive positions in Indonesian universities. This results in gender biases in university policy-making.
Across the world, earlier research confirms the COVID-19 pandemic has led to women academics carrying heavy teaching burdens. This has left them with relatively little time for research and publication compared to their male colleagues.
Globally, the number of journal articles published by female academics declined during the pandemic.
Understanding the deeply gendered inequalities in universities and beyond must be approached with care. We carried out exploratory research on 27 Indonesian female academics working in the humanities and social sciences. ....
