Portland Trail Blazers Damian Lillard Last In MVP Predictions

Soobum Im-USA TODAY Sports
While Portland Trail Blazers’ point guard Damian Lillard has been having an amazing season overall, he has struggled in recent weeks, and it shows in the discussion around the Most Valuable Player award for this season. Frank Urbina of HoopsHype ranked who is most likely to carry away the end of season awards, including the MVP award, and Lillard came in last.
Damian Lillard has been slumping a bit of late, but that doesn’t change the fact that he has posted a straight Herculean effort this year in keeping the Portland Trail Blazers relevant in the playoff race despite a plethora of injuries to their roster. Lillard ranks fifth this season in Win Shares and eighth in Value Over Replacement Player.

NBA MVP rankings: LeBron vaults ahead, Curry strengthens his case

Nick Roy / theScore
With the shortened regular season swiftly nearing its halfway mark, here's a ranking of the current top 10 MVP candidates and their positions in our last rankings:
10. Kawhi Leonard, Los Angeles Clippers
Last ranking: N/A
Two-time Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard narrowly edges Clippers teammate Paul George for the last spot on this list as the latter recovers from a bone edema that's kept him out of the team's last seven games.
Leonard, who has missed the last three outings, performed admirably in George's absence, posting averages of 29.5 points and 8.8 rebounds. A solid individual run with George on the sidelines could see Leonard's MVP odds improve drastically, especially if the Clippers challenge the Lakers and Jazz for top spot in the West.

2020-21 NBA MVP Ladder: The King continues to reign supreme | NBA.com Canada

Highest finish: 3
Lowest finish: 4
Jokic has been arguably the best player in the league this season. He's averaging a near triple-double with 26.9 points, 11.3 rebounds and 8.6 assists per game on .567/.400/.850 shooting splits. Joel Embiid has a slightly higher Player Efficiency Rating - more on him soon - but Jokic leads the league in almost every other advanced statistic, such as Win Shares, Box Plus/Minus and Value Over Replacement Player.
 50 POINTS
The only real knock on Jokic is that the Nuggets are 13-11, ranking them seventh in the Western Conference. As dynamite as they've been offensively, they currently rank in the bottom half of the league in defensive efficiency.
