Mar. 16 Steilacoom has said goodbye to its longtime mayor after he announced his resignation for medical reasons earlier this month.
Ron Lucas held the mayoral seat for more than two decades.
Town Administrator Paul Loveless said the symptoms of Lucas illness appeared in January.
Loveless did not disclose details of Lucas medical condition, and Lucas declined to be interviewed for this article.
Town council members and community leaders agreed that his successor has big shoes to fill. ....

Students and teachers at a high school in Tacoma, Washington, United States, have expressed their delight after receiving a very special message from China.

A high school in Tacoma, Washington, was once again pleased to receive a message from China.
It was the second time they received such a communication, the first in 2016 from Chinese President Xi Jinping.
About four weeks ago, Patrick Erwin, principal of Lincoln High School, sent a communication to President Xi. He wrote about the exchanges between his school and China over the past years and how the educational partnership is important to his students. ....
