How is your fantasy team doing? let s not talk about it. i m already enough of a weather geek, now i got to be that geek, too? as far as what we re dealing with outside, it s almost like sunbathing weather, i know people were out in the parks doing it this weekend, we have peak leaves in northern new england, it was 87 yesterday in boston. really incredible temperatures, record highs in many places. it s a warm morning, we re at 66 in boston, 64 in new york. suburbs are a little cooler under clear skies. a lot of sunshine out there. late in the day. some high clouds will move in. for the most part it s going to be just like yesterday. temperatures just as warm, 85 in philly today, now a little bit cooler around buffalo and pittsburgh, for this time of year, it s still exceptionally warm. we could see highs in the 50s and 60s, we re about deny to 20 degrees above average and even into tuesday, not quite as warm. ....

i m carol costello. the eastern seaboard bracing themselves for the worst of irene on this american morning. good morning, everyone. it is it s wednesday, wowp halfway through the week. august 24th. welcome to american morning. feels like it s halfway through the week. he had like a hundred years of news in two days. we started off yesterday with what was going on in libya, these hurricane preparations, and then an earthquake. right. did you feel it? christine and i were together working. i thought it was a little vertigo. i said, is that the subway? and we were with somebody who said the lights are swaying. yeah. this ligds grid was swaying. i did not feel it. i was in a shoe store buying shoes. you thought that s what it was. my husband is in baltimore, he really felt it. he e-mails me and says, get out of wherever you are. i m thinking, how does he know i m buying shoes. hopefully, gladly there are more stories of that sort. only something ....

As you know, it s been a record-setting year for tornadoes in this country, and we re not alone. look at this video of a powerful water spout off the coast of sydney, australia. this one towered about 2,000 feet in the air. meteorologist rob marciano joins us to explain. is this a form of tornado? is that what it is? it s basically a tornado that s over water. instead of the debris flying around, the dirt and trees and houses and things like that, it s just water. it s a lot nicer to look at, that s for sure. it s certainly fascinating. look at this close-up view. one thing i want you to notice when we eventually get back to the close-up view is just how clear it is from top to bottom. the cloud base is up there around 2,000 feet. this is a relatively high base. it s also moving really quick. notice this, okay? it s spinning well, i mean, it s spinning the wrong way. it s down there in australia. it spins the opposite way. that, as a weather geek, is ....
