DEAR ABBY: I have been with my wife, "Sandy," for 40 years. We married as soon as it became possible for us as a gay couple. While our relationship isn't perfect, we are deeply committed and I always assumed we shared the same values.
DEAR ABBY: With no discussion, my husband decided to retire two years ago. He said he would just take Social Security and we'd be fine. He failed to take into account that he was underage for Medicare, and all of his dental and medical bills would become my responsibility since I'm still working. Luckily, I convinced him to leave SS alone, and to roll his 401(k) into an IRA.
DEAR ABBY: I was just released from the hospital, and I suspect my husband is tapping his foot waiting for me to fix him lunch. He isn't doing or saying anything overt, like "Get up and make me lunch," but it's more like he is whining about the options in front of him -- peanut butter, frozen leftovers, etc.
DEAR ABBY: My husband died three years ago, and I met someone shortly after. This man is kind and loving, and he treats me well. He happily moved with me to another state to be near my family. I'm 67, and he is 63. I'm retired, and hopefully have enough to live on for the rest of my life, although as everyone knows, anything can happen.
DEAR ABBY: I am struggling with an invisible illness and losing patience with friends, family and acquaintances. I'm working with doctors to manage my conditions, and I'm tired of all the suggestions and seemingly positive comments I'm hearing, like, "You can do it; just put your mind to it!"
