Roscosmos continues discussing joint Moon base with China

MOSCOW, January 25. /TASS/. Russian state space corporation Roscosmos carries on the talks with China and other international partners on the creation of a joint Moon base, Roscosmos chief Dmitry Rogozin said on his Telegram channel.
We are holding talks with all international partners, first and foremost China, on establishing a Moon research base, he wrote.
Rogozin reminded that the Russian Moon research program is set to begin in 2021. We plan to begin a piloted Moon program in 2028, he stressed. ....

About 1,700 grams of lunar rocks and soil brought back by China s Chang e 5 robotic probe were transferred to Chinese scientists for research on Saturday morning, according to the China National Space Administration.
The samples were handed over by Zhang Kejian, head of the space administration, to Hou Jianguo, president of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, at a delivery ceremony in Beijing held by the space administration.
The delivery marked the start of research into the samples, the administration said in a statement, adding that it will publish guidelines on the samples distribution and use and will also encourage scientists from around the world to participate. ....

For the first time since 1976, China has brought back samples from the moon through Chang’e 5, the China lunar probe, with the soil samples carried on the lunar capsule that just recently returned to Earth this Thursday, December 17, during pre-dawn hours.
‘Very Welcoming’ to Joint Research
The soil samples were freshly acquired from the moon during Chang’e 5’s first lunar mission, which lasted for 23 days, wherein the spacecraft traveled for a total of 230,000 miles.
The fresh lunar soil samples were carried on the cargo weighing more than four pounds, which landed in the Siziwang district of the Inner Mongolia region, according to the report of the China National Space Administration. ....
