39 Palestinian prisoners will be released in exchange for the release of 13 Israeli captives, in second phase of hostage deal between Israel and Hamas, Qatar said.
Thus far 78 Palestinian prisoners have been released in exchange for the release of 41 hostages from Gaza, after the second phase of the deal between Israel and Hamas faced hours of delay.
US President Joe Biden said Sunday he hoped the four-day truce would be extended to provide for the entry of critical aid into Gaza and the release of additional hostages.
The deal will reportedly free 13 hostages held by Hamas in exchange for 39 Palestinian women and minors in Israeli custody, a temporary cease-fire and pauses in drone surveillance.
More Israeli hostages, at least 50, are expected to be released in the next few days. In return, Israel released 39 Palestinian women and minors on Friday.
