KARACHI: Knowing that batting in the fourth innings will not be easy, Pakistan’s experienced leggie Yasir Shah on Thursday said that it was very important for the hosts to dismiss South Africa early in their second innings on the fourth day on Friday (today).
“There is a break in the pitch, although, slow one, and there is bounce also. So we will try to get South Africa out tomorrow as quickly as possible which will eventually help us as we have to bat in the fourth innings,” Yasir told a virtual news conference. ....

KARACHI: Having made an impressive debut against Australia in 2014 in the UAE by capturing 12 wickets in the two Test-match series which Pakistan won 2-0, the country’s seasoned leggie Yasir Shah had a splendid run for years. He remained highly impressive on tracks in the UAE, Sri Lanka, West Indies and to a certain extent on the English soil. However, a dip is seen in his performances whenever he tours Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, where spinners normally struggle.
He was not seen in the best of his forms during a couple of Tests he played against Sri Lanka (two wickets) and Bangladesh (four wickets) in Karachi and Rawalpindi in 2019 and 2020, respectively. After taking just three wickets in the first Test in New Zealand recently at Mount Maunganui, he was dropped for the Christchurch Test in which Pakistan were mauled by an innings and 176 runs by the hosts. ....

KARACHI: Spinner Yasir Shah said Saturday that the reasons behind his declining  graph were bad pitch conditions, as he vowed that he would prove he is “still good enough” during the upcoming two-match Test series against South Africa.
Speaking during an online press conference after the Pakistan team’s training session on Saturday, the 34-year-old bowler defended the decline, saying that lately, he wasn’t getting spin-friendly conditions to bowl on.
“I am fit and playing. I know that I am 34 but I am doing well for the team. I will try to prove my worth in this series and try to prove here that I still have cricket left in me,” he said. ....

KARACHI: Actor Yasir Hussain’s Wikipedia page has been “locked” for editing after it was “vandalised heavily” in the last week, during which prominent Turkish actress Esra Bilgic was mentioned as his parent, a Pakistan-based editor of the popular online encyclopedia told
The News    Sunday.
Not only this, but Yasir s birthdate and birthplace were also changed.
Pakistani internet users were surprised recently to see Google search results showing Ertugrul-famed Esra Bilgic as her parent. It was later found that the information was actually sourced from Wikipedia and the search engine has nothing to do with it. ....
