square last year. an extraordinary development and we mobilized cnn correspondents around the world to cover this breaking news story for us from the pentagon to istanbuistanbul. it s hard to indicate just how important al awlaki was to the organization, but here s a frightening reality. he may be more dangerous dead. that s exactly what our nic robertson has been covering to this point. let s go straight to you. what exactly do you know with regard to how he was targeted and is it possible to give credit to an agency at this point? well, i think what we just heard from fran townsend perhaps nails it down very well. that is that it can t be nailed down because nobody wants to go on the record. the past track record, however, of against al awlaki in may this year was credited to the united states, to a drone strike. missile bumped off the fender of his car as he made a get away. politically sensitive. right now the president does not need the united states to announce ....

benefits. it s been really at 400 or higher since april. that s really not conducive to cutting the unemployment rate but a good number this week. it fell to 391,000 and that s better than we had expected. another important report, the final read on how fast the economy grew in the second quarter. this is the gdp report. gross domestic product. the sum of everything that this economy puts out and it grew at 1.3%. so, for all those people who are talking about a double-dip recession, this number shows it isn t technically a double dip recession right now. in the second quarter you had economic growth and economists are telling me that for the third quarter there was growth there, as well. so, you have an economy that is growing and you have fewer people than expected who filed for jobless benefits. it sounds like a couple of nonnegatives, which is, but taken together, that s positive for the market, at least this morning, kyra. we ll watch all the numbers and we ll kno ....

surrounding the new jersey governor and a possible run for the white house. how many times does a guy have to say no before it sinks in? you folks are an incredible disappointment as an audience. the fact that that took to second question. shows you people are off your game. that is not american exceptionalism. jim acosta, hopeful supporters still only heard one thing, he didn t say no. any reason to believe that he s reconsidering now? yeah, the buzz is exceptional, kyra. yes, there is reason to think that he is reconsidering for a governor who is known for his new jersey brand of straight talk. chris christie never really came out and said last night whether or not he s running for president. unlike what he has done in the past. he sounded very much like a candidate in a speech at the reagan presidential library out in california. the new jersey governor accused the president of dividing the country in order to win re-election. he took a settled dig at rick perr ....

murray s team says jackson gave himself the fatal dose. yesterday jurors heard jackson slurring his words in an audio recording made just weeks before he died. he was talking about his upcoming shows in london. when people leave my show, i want them to say, i ve never seen nothing like this in my life. murray faces up to four years in prison and the loss of his medical license if he is convicted. iran is planning to send navy ships near the atlantic coast of the united states, at least that s what a commander has told iran s state-run news agency. why, you ask? that commander says iran will do it because the u.s. does the same thing near the marine border. the u.s. defense department has not commented on this. american ships have been deployed to the persian gulf in the past. it looks like 41 years of good fortune have run out for a fugitive. george wright is a convicted killer who escaped from a new jersey prison in 1970 and later hijacked a plane to algeria. h ....

as i do. this is your old stomping grounds and some of the same people may be here. you know, this is the set up. that s what s going to happen today. the jury is going to get instructions from the judge and this is a set up. this is where the prosecution and defense say, here s what happened. this is why dr. conrad murray is guilty because he did this and then the defense will say, well, this is why he s not guilty because michael jackson did this and they re going to say that michael jackson really took the lethal dose himself. he either ingested it by drinking it or gave himself a shot or put the iv into his arm and gave himself a higher dose. that s what s going to happen today. that s a set up and that will happen and then later the first witness, kyra. tell us about the makeup of the jury. what exactly we know. i was looking at some of the details this morning. lay it out for us. okay. so, kyra, here we go. we have in the jury, first seven men in the jury, alw ....
