The family of Ohio man Jayland Walker is suing the eight police officers who shot him last summer for at least $45 million just months after a grand jury
Attorneys for the family are arguing officers used excessive force when they fired 94 bullets at the the 25-year-old Walker, who is black, during a foot chase. Walker fired one shot at the officers.
The Ohio attorney general said on Monday that a grand jury declined to indict the eight officers involved in the death of Jayland Walker in June 2022, because they were 'under threat'.
The eight unnamed officers shot and killed Walker, 25, on June 27 in Akron, Ohio. They were suspended on full pay pending a state investigation, but are returning to work.
Akron Police Chief Steve Mylett has said that the officers who shot Jayland Walker dead have had bounties placed on their heads.
