Worker’s remittances surge 24.2 percent in February
KARACHI (Dunya News) – For ninth consecutive month, the workers’ remittances from abroad remained above $2 billion in February 2021.
According to State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), on Thursday, workers’ remittances received in last month amounted to $ 2.266 billion; almost at same level of the previous month and 24.2 % higher than of February 2020.
During July 2020 to February 2021, workers’ remittances reached $18.7 billion; 24.1 percent higher than the corresponding period of last year.
A large part of workers ‘remittance inflow during this period was sourced from Saudi Arabia ($5.0 billion), United Arab Emirates ($3.9 billion), United Kingdom ($2.5 billion) and United States ($1.6 billion).

The head of the United Nations mission in Sudan on Tuesday warned against ignoring economic hardships that are posing a risk to stability in the Northeast African country.
We cannot ignore, though, that economic hardships are posing a risk to Sudan s stability, head of United Nations Integrated Transitional Assistance Mission in Sudan (UNITAMS), Volker Perthes, said in his first briefing to the Security Council s videoconference briefing on the mission.

A driver for online moving company platform Huolala was formally arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of negligently causing the death of a female client in his van last month, police in Changsha, capital of Hunan province, announced.
The driver, surnamed Zhou, allegedly deviated from the route set by the platform to save time before the customer, 23-year-old Che Shasha, fell from his moving van, according to a police report.
Zhou, 38, is from Changsha. He signed up to be a driver for Huolala-a ride-hailing platform that concentrates on moving people s belongings-in September 2019.
