Congress seeks his removal from various Assembly committees.
The Opposition Congress in Meghalaya has demanded the removal of an MLA accused of raping a woman from the committees of the 60-member Assembly.
The police on Tuesday confirmed that a woman had lodged an FIR against National People’s Party (NPP) legislator Thomas Sangma for allegedly abusing her sexually.
The NPP heads a coalition government, with the BJP as a constituent. The legislator, representing the Tura Assembly constituency, is also the chief advisor to Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma. ....

BATON ROUGE - After last week s flooding, Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome is expediting emergency debris removal.
Debris removal will begin Thursday in Baton Rouge and unincorporated areas of East Baton Rouge Parish. Areas hit hardest by the flooding will be served first.
According to estimates made by the mayor s office, there are currently around 22,000 cubic yards of flood debris on roadways in the area.
“Our residents continue to show great resiliency in overcoming the many challenges they have faced in the past year. It’s only fitting their local government stands ready to assist in their time of need,” said Mayor Broome. ....

Briefing the media about cabinet decisions on Tuesday, Sindh Information Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah claimed the IRSAâs chairman had embarrassed Sindhâs member during the IRSA meeting who was advocating due water share for the province. zDemanding immediate removal of IRSAâs chairman, the minister said the IRSA had become a party to the interprovincial water dispute instead of acting as an honest arbitrator. Shah also accused IRSA of involvement in stealing Sindhâs water share, and of releasing misleading and fake data about water distribution. ....
