THE HAGUE, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) The Court of Appeal in The Hague ruled on Friday that the curfew introduced by the Dutch government was based on valid legal grounds, overruling the verdict of the District Court of The Hague.
The court has ruled that there are indeed extraordinary circumstances that allow the introduction of the curfew, the judges stated, adding The coronavirus pandemic is a sufficient reason for this.
On Feb. 16, the District Court of The Hague judged that the curfew had to be lifted with immediate effect. According to the judges, the government had illegally made use of the Extraordinary Powers of Civil Authority Act as there was no case of special urgency . ....

THE HAGUE, Netherlands (CN) A Dutch appeals court has upheld a national curfew, saying the government is within its right to enforce a stay-at-home order between 9 p.m. and 4:30 a.m. under legislation designed for emergencies. 
“In the opinion of the Court of Appeal, it is absolutely clear that these are extraordinary circumstances,” the three-judge panel for the Hague Court of Appeal wrote Friday. “The Netherlands has been dealing with a pandemic for nearly a year. The virus has spread all over the world and has caused large numbers of fatalities, including in the Netherlands.” ....

THE HAGUE, Netherlands (CN) Judges in The Hague heard an appeal Friday over the Netherlands’ nationwide curfew after a lower court struck down the coronavirus restriction just days before.
