Whanganui rock band My Damned Kind have been around for years, and their Facebook page is no newby either, but imagine their shock when Facebook decided their name didn t suit the social media giant s image.
It was March 3 and band leader Matt Lorigan posted this: hi guys so today I get a notice from facebook saying our band page name My Damned Kind goes against their profanity policy and must be changed. ....

Michael Stanley, who became known nationally for a radio hit in 1981 but was the very symbol of rock ‘n roll for decades in the city of Cleveland, died Friday at age 72. The cause of death was lung cancer that had been diagnosed seven months earlier.
Stanley’s illness became known when he took leave of his usual afternoon radio shift at Cleveland’s 98.5 WNCX in late February and the station released a statement requesting prayers for his family. ....

South African IPV programme reaches new milestone - Naval Warfare

A blessing ceremony was conducted in Cape Town for the first of three Multi Mission Inshore Patrol Vessels for the South African Navy.
The South African Navy (SAN) held a low-key blessing ceremony on 12 February for its first Multi Mission Inshore Patrol Vessels (MMIPV) at Damen Shipyards Cape Town (DSCT).
In all, three MMIPVs being built by DSCT for the SAN under Project Biro will be used for missions such as maritime patrol and EEZ protection missions.
‘This vessel will be crucial in search and rescue operations and a critical link in security operations. The reconfigurability of the ship makes it a force multiplier in any littoral environment for the SA Navy,’ Chief of the SAN, VAdm Mosiwa Hlongwane, said during the blessing ceremony. ....
