Shelbourne Confirm Blues Friendly Monday, 23rd May 2016 18:42 Shelbourne have confirmed that Town will be making their annual visit to Tolka Park to take on the Airtricity League First Division club in a pre-season friendly on Saturday 9th July (KO 3pm). A game against the Dublin side has become regular fixture in the Blues’ pre-season preparations under Mick McCarthy following on from the squad spending a week training at the Carton House Hotel in County Kildare. Town won last summer's match 6-0 with Brett Pitman scoring twice and Alex Henshall, Darren Ambrose, Cole Skuse and Jay Tabb once each. In 2014 the Blues beat Shels 4-0 with the match the season before ending 2-0 to Town.
MK Dons Trip in Pre-Season Wednesday, 16th May 2018 16:44 Town will play the MK Dons away in a friendly on Tuesday 24th July (KO 7.45pm). The Dons were relegated to League Two at the end of 2017/18. The game is the first pre-season match to be announced with the Blues’ programme following the pattern which became familiar under former boss Mick McCarthy. The squad will spend a week training at the Carton House Hotel in Co Kildare before playing one Ireland-based friendly which is still to be confirmed, although is understood to be at last year’s opponents Drogheda United. Further matches away against relatively local League One and League Two clubs in addition to the MK Dons game, almost certainly including Colchester United, will be confirmed in the weeks to come with the Blues expected to play their final friendly at home, as had been the tradition up to the last couple of seasons.
Drogheda Date Set Monday, 8th May 2017 22:58 Drogheda United have confirmed that their pre-season friendly against the Blues will take place at United Park on Saturday 8th July (KO 2pm). The game will be Town’s first of their pre-season programme, which will include the now-annual week training at the Carton House Hotel in Co Kildare. Unlike in previous seasons the Blues won’t be playing Shelbourne. Former Colchester United midfielder Mark Kinsella is currently first-team coach at Drogheda, who are seventh in the Airtricity Premier League (top flight). Town boss Mick McCarthy revealed on Friday that games against Colchester and Southend will also be among this summer’s friendlies.
