Gov. Bill Lee and leading transportation officials in the state legislature heard Amtrak s ideas during meetings last year.
State and regional transportation planners say that expanded passenger rail with connections to the national network is a priority important to Tennessee s economic growth. The board met recently with Amtrak officials, said Greater Nashville Regional Council executive director Michael Skipper. Area mayors and transportation officials who serve on the Greater Nashville Regional Council’s Transportation Policy Board have been collaborating for years on how best to improve transportation options for Middle Tennesseans and to help grow our shared economy.
Franklin Tomorrow and the city of Franklin went back to the basics Monday during the nonprofitâs monthly FrankTalks lecture event, as city leaders walked through the âABCs of city government.â
City Administrator Eric Stuckey led event participants through the overall structure and purpose of local government, inviting several city officials to share about their roles.
âWe sometimes just assume everybody knows these things, and we donât want to do that,â Stuckey said. âWe want to make sure that we are giving you the basics, helping you understand the structure and how it works. We work really hard to be, first and foremost, a community service team.â
