The $194-billion IT industry, comprising more than 18,000 firms that directly employ 4.47 million people, accounts for 8% of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP).
Bengaluru: The Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) will set up 12 centres of excellence across the country to build products and solutions in areas such as healthtech, IOT and SmartAgri as it looks to nurture small companies and startups to work on these solutions.

TCS plans to hire over 40,000 people from campuses this year, while Infosys is likely to recruit nearly 25,000 people from campuses. Wipro, which has not provided a hiring plan, said it will onboard more people than last year.
“…growth itself has picked up and on top of it, most of the growth volumes are happening in India, and consequently, there is tremendous demand for talent,” Infosys’ chief operating officer Pravin Rao told analysts last week.
Analysts tracking the sector say the top five companies including TCS, Wipro, Infosys,
Tech Mahindra will hire more than 110,000 people this year, from a net addition of more than 90,000 jobs last year.

HCL Technologies Ltd. has signed a multi-million-dollar deal with UD Trucks Corp. to accelerate the digital transformation of the Japanese commercial vehicle solutions provider.

Aegis has invested $30 million in IT services firm CSS Corp in a limited partnership managed by Startek’s majority shareholder, Capital Square Partners.
Startek will acquire 26% indirect beneficial interest in CSS. It will also have the option to acquire a controlling stake in the company. The company however said in a statement that the option to acquire majority stake was at its discretion and that Startek is not obliged to do so.

infosys esops: Infy offers Esops of Rs 40 cr to Parekh, Rao and others


Mumbai:
Infosys has vested employee stock options (ESOPs) of nearly Rs 40 crore to its top executives, including CEO Salil Parekh and COO Pravin Rao, a filing with US Securities and Exchange Commission (US SEC) showed on Wednesday.
Parekh, who completed three years at the helm of Infosys in January and helped it return to growth mode, received shares worth Rs 4.33 crore while Rao got Rs 1.94 crore of stock.
More than 30 executives, including CFO Nilanjan Roy, HR head Krishnamurthy Shankar, Presidents S. Ravi Kumar and Mohit Joshi also received shares of the company.
In a separate regulatory filing, Janhavi Nilekani, the daughter of Infosys Chairman Nandan Nilekani and part of the promoter group, gifted 777,600 equity shares worth Rs 106 crore to Tanush Nilekani Chandra, her son.

The Indian IT industry now accounts for 8% of India’s GDP and has a 52% share in services exports from the country.
Mumbai | Bengaluru: National Association of Software and Service Companies (Nasscom) has said that the Indian IT industry is pegged to report revenue of $194 billion in FY21 at a growth rate of 2.3% year on-year.
The three key areas of technology that the IT industry will focus on building offerings in are artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and internet of things. “One of our biggest focuses is on developing a very strong ecosystem and regulatory framework for these three technologies,” said Debjani Ghosh, president at Nasscom.
