LAS CRUCES - Police are investigating the cause of a motorcycle vs. car collision on Amador Avenue and Campo Street. The collision hospitalized the motorcyclist and closed a portion of Amador Avenue as police investigate.
Dan Trujillo, Las Cruces Police Department public information officer, said the crash occurred around 1:15 p.m. Friday afternoon. He said first responders discovered the motorcyclist on the ground with critical injuries. He said the man was flown to El Paso for medical attention.
Trujillo did not reveal the motorcyclist s identity.
Trujillo said that preliminary information suggests that the motorcycle was traveling north on Campo street and was crossing Amador Avenue on a green light. A red Honda Sedan attempted to run the red light on Amador and struck the motorcyclist, Trujillo said.
