If you mention that same name to a politically astute person from the baby-boomer generation, you are more likely to hear about a former secretary of Labor from the Reagan era who was unjustly accused of a crime and had to fight for more than two-and-a-half years to clear his name. But William Treanor, dean of the Georgetown University Law Center, has sent a clear message to those who try to answer that call: verbalizing your commitment to social justice won’t protect you and may even destroy your career if an angry activist decides to “cancel” you.

Four finalists for Iowa presidential search will be interviewed publicly

The four candidates to replace University of Iowa President Bruce Harreld will be revealed, and interviewed, in the next two weeks.
The separate question-and-answer sessions with the university start with the initial finalist at 3:30 p.m. Monday. Other finalists will speak at that time on April 15, 19 and 22. The identities of the finalists will be released at 8 a.m. the day before the interview. The nine members of Iowa s Board of Regents are expected to select the 22nd Iowa president at a meeting on April 30.
