Marijuana: point system slims down, code comes close to finalization

After its Jan. 28 work session on the marijuana application and its associated point system, the Town of Cedaredge Board of Trustees met again on Thursday, Feb. 4, to further fine tune the regulations on that process, as well as code for marijuana in general.
As previously indicated at the last January meeting, redundant items that repeated town code and state law were removed. Other items on the point system were tweaked as well.
Firstly, as far as significant alterations go, on Item J under the general license requirements, the board removed language regarding the need for designated RV parking, as redundant town code would push retailers into providing that parking in order for RVs not to be parked along the street. Therefore, instead of being worded as a special requirement for off-street parking for marijuana businesses, the ordinance will just refer to the town code, which has the regulation for all businesses. ....

Prairiland ISD trustees to call for bond election


PATTONVILLE — Prairiland ISD trustees are expected to call up to a $7.5 million bond election when the board meets at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the Administration Building, 466 FM 196 S.
Bond funds would be used to build classrooms at Blossom Elementary and Prairiland Junior High, and fix traffic congestion problems at the Blossom school, Superintendent Jeff Ballard said recently. Ballard is to review a site plan for the Blossom school at the Monday meeting.
Other agenda items include a pay increase for election workers, the extension of time to use emergency paid sick leave for the 2020-21 school year and a waiver request for student growth requirements in teacher appraisals for the current school year. ....

North Lamar ISD likely to call May bond election


North Lamar ISD will conduct a public hearing on the district’s state mandated annual accountability report, and trustees are expected to call a May 1 bond election when the board meets at 6 p.m. Monday at the Roy C. Chadwick Administration Office, 3130 N. Main St.
In relation to the proposed bond election, trustees are expected to retain law firms Haynes & Boone and Powell Law Group to provide specialized legal services for the issuance of public securities.
Other agenda items include a financial report information on an Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund grant. Trustees are to call a trustee election for May 1 and approve a joint agreement between the district and the City of Paris with regards to the administration of the election. ....

Of the 36 children, around 10 to 12 who are over the age of eight may receive insulin pumps
COIMBATORE: As many as 36 children from poor background with type 1 diabetes being treated in Coimbatore Medical College Hospital will soon receive the latest type of insulin replacement therapy.
City-based Idhayangal Charitable Trust (www.idhayangal.org) has decided to launch a special programme called ‘Kovai Thulir’, under which each of these 36 children will be given a refrigerator each to store insulin, a glucometer with 25 strips every month and an insulin pen or pump, where the needle is much finer than a normal injection needle, free of cost. ....
