ANSA: National COVID-19 Rt drops below alarm level in Italy

ROME. KAZINFORM - Italy s nationwide COVID-19 Rt reproduction number has dropped to 0.98, below the alarm level of 1 and down from 1.08 last week, according to a draft of the weekly coronavirus monitoring report of the health ministry and the Higher Heath Institute (ISS). The incidence has fallen to 232 cases for every 100,000 inhabitants, down from 240 last week, ANSA reports.

The ISS said that the proportion of intensive care places in Italy taken up by COVID-19 patients has risen to 41%, up from 39% last week and well above the critical threshold of 30%.
It said 14 of Italy s regions/autonomous provinces were above the 30% threshold, up from 12 last week. ....

Labour activists raised concerns on Tuesday over rise in the cases of bonded labour in Sindh due to Covid-19-related economic and social implications and demanded from the provincial government to immediately establish district vigilance committees across all districts of the province, as required under the Sindh Bonded Labour System (Abolition) Act, 2015.
Addressing a press conference, Hari Welfare Association president Akram Ali Khaskheli decried that despite a passage of five years since the Act was passed, these committees had not been set up. ....

A tsunami siren false alarm caused widespread worry in parts of Northland with Northpower - which runs the siren network - apologising and vowing to do everything to ensure it doesn t happen again.
Northpower has apologised to people in the Kaipara and Whangārei Districts after an unnamed technical issue in its control systems caused the coastal tsunami sirens to activate from 8.21pm to 8.24pm on Monday night. ....
