Troopers, firefighters, deputy and dispatchers honored by legislators for life saving efforts during Pierrepont fire

CANTON The combined efforts of two state troopers, two firefighters, a St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputy and several St. Lawrence County Emergency Services Dispatchers helped save the lives of six residents during a Pierrepont fire that killed two others.
On Monday St. Lawrence County legislators held a recognition ceremony at the opening of the full board meeting.
Then January fire claimed the lives of Ricky and Lena Gollinger, but the efforts of first responders allowed six others to escape from the burning home.
Two adults and four residents were aided in an escape without serious injuries. ....

AMERICA does not have an official day to observe the birthday of President Abraham Lincoln, but “President’s Day” on the third Monday in February is a US federal holiday set on the calendar because of its close proximity to the birthdays of Lincoln on February 12th and President George Washington on February 22nd. As I reflect on the birth of Lincoln, and as we have just celebrated the birth of Robert Burns, I highlight the depth of feeling Lincoln and the Lincoln family had for the Scottish Bard and Scotland more generally.
When President Lincoln was tragically killed in 1865, so many of his personal hopes that he shared with First Lady Mary Todd Lincoln came to an abrupt rest. One of the goals they longed to do following Lincoln’s presidency was travel to Scotland. Lincoln who never left the United States for any foreign journey, often contemplated Scotland and spoke of his goal of travelling there. PIERREPONT, N.Y. (WWNY) - A chaotic race against time - thatâs how police describe Sundayâs rescue of a Pierrepont couple from their burning home.

The man accused of beating up Central and South Eleuthera MP Stephen “Hank” Johnson outside his mistress’ home has been charged.
Alexander Williamson, 43, denied charges of assault and threats of death at his arraignment before Magistrate Carolyn Vogt-Evans. He’s been granted $3,000 bail in connection with the attack that allegedly happened on January 16 at Coral Harbour. Williamson returns to court in April 7 for his trial.
