Ford Motor Co. shareholders on Thursday approved the appointment of two new Ford family members to the company s board of directors, ushering in a new generation of family involvement for the 118-year-old automaker.
The new directors, approved during a virtual annual shareholder meeting, are Henry Ford III, 40, son of Edsel Ford II, and Alexandra Ford English, 33, daughter of Executive Chairman Bill Ford.
Currently director of investor relations, Ford III has been at the automaker since 2006 and previously served on the company s corporate strategy skill team, as the global marketing manager for Ford s performance division, and in other positions in labor relations, purchasing, marketing and sales, and corporate strategy. ....

Ford Motor Company CEO Jim Farley has a new advisor on matters of policy: Jon Huntsman, a longtime member of the Ford board of directors. The automaker last month announced that Huntsman is coming on board as the vice chair of Policy, effective May 3.
As a senior advisor to Jim Farley and Ford Executive Chairman Bill Ford, Huntsman will lend his expertise in areas like government relations. Ford says he will play a key role in crafting policy, specifically relating to the automaker’s transition to a fully zero-emission lineup. Earlier this year, Ford released its first integrated sustainability and financial report, which outlines environmental actions and contextualizes them for shareholders. That report also shines a light on efforts Ford is making in diversity, equity, and inclusion as part of its aim to create “a culture of belonging.”
Ford says that it launched a DEI audit of salaried employees in the U.S. as result of the outcry following the murders of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor. Global markets will also undergo similar audits in the coming months. The automaker has also established a new monthly DEI forum chaired by CEO Jim Farley and is requiring officers and many skill teams to fulfill DEI objectives.
