This offseason, the Oklahoma City Thunder were one of the busiest teams in the NBA and while most teams look to improve their team during the offseason, GM Sam Presti and the Oklahoma City front office completely dismantled this roster. The Thunder were picked to finish near the bottom of the Western Conference last season and ended up being the 5th best team in the conference over the course of the regular season, but that did not seem to matter for the Thunder as they are looking long-term.
As a result, Chris Paul, Steven Adams, Dennis Schroder, and Danilo Gallinari (via sign-and-trade) were all traded from the Thunder this offseason in exchange for mostly first-round draft picks as it seemed like only Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Luguentz Dort and Darius Bazley were safe from the trade block. ....

John Collins is the most intriguing player on the Hawks because it s unclear how the Hawks value him having traded for Clint Capela last trade deadline, drafted Onyeka Okongwu with the sixth overall pick, and signed Danilo Gallinari to a three year, $61M deal this offseason. All three are big men, and all three are going to play minutes this season as the Hawks are focused on making a push for the playoffs. Collins is a very good, young player who can do everything you d want from a volume scoring, modern big man, including making three-pointers (40.1 percent last season), so it d be bizarre of Atlanta to move on from him this early in his career. That said, he d sure be an intriguing player on the trade market if the Hawks made him available. ....

Faced with the colossal task of convincing Giannis Antetokounmpo to sign a long-term deal, the Bucks seemingly made two huge moves to begin free agency by acquiring Jrue Holiday (Pelicans) and Bogdan Bogdanovic in a sign-and-trade from the Kings. Unfortunately, the Bogdanovic sign-and-trade fell through (either because free agency hadn t begun when the deal was agreed to or because Bogdanovic hadn t actually agreed to the deal - you know, minor details). After the sign-and-trade debacle, Milwaukee went out and signed a couple of solid rotation players - Bryn Forbes (Spurs), DJ Augustin (Magic), Bobby Portis (Knicks), and Torrey Craig (Nuggets). Those are all decent signings, but Giannis future will likely turn on whether Holiday can show up big in the playoffs as he did back in 2018 when he averaged 23.7 ppg., 6.3 APG., 5.7 RPG. and locked up Damian Lillard in a shocking sweep of the higher-seeded Blazers. ....
