DeMarcus Cousins on the Clippers: Five takeaways from his signing

Card image cap

DeMarcus Cousins is a Clipper — for at least the next 10 days.
After clearing the NBA’s COVID-19 testing protocols the four-time All-Star center signed a 10-day contract Monday to provide more depth in the post as the Clippers wait for starting center Serge Ibaka to return from a back injury that has sidelined him three weeks.
Five takeaways on what the signing of Cousins, who hasn’t played since Feb. 17, could mean:
1. For a second consecutive season the Clippers use one of their last roster spots on a former All-NBA-caliber center hoping to resuscitate his career. Last year it was Joakim Noah who signed a 10-day contract with the intent that he agree to a second, followed by a deal that would run through the season’s end — all of which came true.

A look back: 15 years ago, Norwood was part of George Mason's Cinderella run in US NCAA

Published March 26, 2021, 7:43 PM
Rain or Shine veteran Gabe Norwood took part in one of the most memorable Cinderella stories in the history of the US NCAA Tournament when George Mason earned a trip to the Final Four exactly 15 years ago.
The Patriots continued their magical run when they held off the highly-touted University of Connecticut Huskies with an 86-84 overtime win, becoming the lowest-seeded team to reach the Final Four.
Norwood was on the bench for the final seconds when UConn’s Denham Brown missed a three-point attempt at the buzzer, triggering a dramatic celebration for a team that came into the East Regional seeded 11th and a long shot to make a serious run at the National Championship.

Happy Tuesday, Illinois. It's starting to feel like normal. I've got a coffee date on the books that has already been rescheduled.
LATE-BREAKING: Evanston’s City Council voted Tuesday to distribute $10 million in housing grants as part of a historic move to greenlight reparations for Black residents.

Bulls bounce back with balanced effort, blow past Pistons

Card image cap

The Bulls used a balanced offensive attack and held the Pistons to just 39% shooting as Chicago blew out Detroit 100-86 on Friday night. The victory ends a Bulls two-game skid. Eight Bulls players scored at least eight points or more. The Bulls (19-22) host the league-leading Utah Jazz (30-11) at the United Center on Monday night.
The Bulls have made their share of gaffes this season, most notably and recently the late game collapses against the Spurs and Nuggets. So perhaps it was appropriate the man the Bulls call "Gaff" in a 100-86 victory Sunday over the Detroit Pistons helped the team avoid the recent blunders, faux pas and solecisms that left them Sleepless in the Rockies.

Card image cap

March 20, 2021
Whenever one hears of Ohio State sports, the first thing that comes to mind is football. After all, the Buckeyes have a dominant program and regularly produce All-Pro talent. However, the school has its fair share of pumping out NBA players.
Below are five of the best Ohio State Buckeyes to play for the school.
Ohio State Stars:
5. D’Angelo Russell, SG (2014-2015)
Russel; was an exciting prospect with averages of 19.3 points, 5,7 boards, and five assists while shooting 41.1% from deep in his one-and-done campaign with the Buckeyes. Ohio State won one game in the NCAA tournament before being routed by Arizona.

Lais Ribeiro sets pulses racing as she poses topless in a sizzling outdoor photoshoot

She kept things boho chic as she styled her hair in loose waves and highlighted her natural beauty with a bronze-toned makeup look.
The 30-year-old rocked a statement haircut featuring an extremely short fringe that stopped well before her eyebrows.
Back to basics: The model looked sensational as she posed for the camera outdoors dressed in a sun hat and little else
She accentuated her lips with dark brown lip liner and emphasised her eyes with a kohl pencil.
And Lais looking effortlessly radiant as she worked her angles for the camera in the sunshine.
The international model - who has walked the runway for such fashion powerhouses as Chanel, Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, Versace, and Dior - is engaged to NBA star Joakim Noah, 35.

Ranking the Best Men's NCAA Tournaments Since 2000

Every March has its share of madness. But once in a while, the men's NCAA tournament can get completely out of control.
And that's why we love it.
Looking back at the last two decades, several stand out as the most entertaining editions. From buzzer-beating shots and close finishes to major upsets and Cinderella runs, these NCAA tournaments are loaded with memorable moments, highlights and teams.
The order is subjective but considers the depth of competitive games, especially factoring in margins of victory and the number of clutch late-game shots. Notable storylines, such as a massive upset, historic feat or Cinderella team, are also factors.

NBA 2K21 PS5 and Xbox Series X Update Live, Patch Notes Revealed
Earlier this month,
NBA 2K21 pushed a brand new update for all of the current generation versions of the game, giving players on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One some additional content and bug fixes. When that update went live, 2K Games announced that there would be a similar update coming to the next-gen editions in the near future. Well, on Wednesday, that future became the present.

Pat Dooley's Back Nine: March 15th - ESPN 98.1 FM

The Back Nine comes at you after a warm and wonderful weekend here in America’s City, and now we start working on excuses not to go to work Friday when the Madness really begins.
10. Apparently, Florida’s game against Tennessee in the SEC Tournament didn’t mean anything. In fact, I’m not sure that this won’t go down as anything more than a tournament for television inventory. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. So, LSU gets to the final and loses by one point and the Tigers are seeded one spot lower than a Florida team that got a win over Vandy and then didn’t put up much of a fight (except Omar Payne’s nasty elbow). So, in the end, that win at West Virginia was bigger than I thought. Interestingly, Florida was the last No. 7 seed and LSU the first No. 8 seed so it was that close. Maybe the committee gave Florida the benefit of the doubt and stuck it a little bit to the Fighting Damn Fine Offers.

The lessons that shaped Tom Thibodeau's coaching renaissance with the New York Knicks

The lessons that shaped Tom Thibodeau's coaching renaissance with the New York Knicks
Stephen A. Smith is excited about what he's seeing from the Knicks. (2:28)
One of the many criticisms about New York Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau was that he would be unable to adapt his eat-breathe-sleep basketball ways to a new wave of young players. But after being fired by the Minnesota Timberwolves in January 2019, Thibodeau is at the start of a third basketball act that many thought wasn't possible.
New York wasn't expected to win much in Thibodeau's first season, but as was the case in his first year with the Chicago Bulls in 2010-11, the team has exceeded expectations.

Heat's Meyers Leonard fined the maximum, admonished by commissioner

Card image cap

The NBA announced Thursday that Miami Heat center Meyers Leonard has been fined $50,000 and suspended one week from all team activities. The sanction, the largest fine allowed under the NBA’s current collective-bargaining agreement, comes after the 7-foot center was heard uttering an anti-Semitic slur while livestreaming video-game play on Monday. The NBA also said Leonard will be required to ...

The reason Derrick Rose NBA cards will always be valuable

The reason Derrick Rose NBA cards will always be valuable
March 10, 2021
Being a fan of the Chicago Bulls in 1998 was very rough. Michael Jordan, deemed as the greatest ever to play the game, retired for a second time. Phil Jackson, Scottie, Pippen, Dennis Rodman, and Steve Kerr, important figures that were part of the Bulls’ second three-peat, were either traded or let go. What followed was a decade of hardships and struggles for ChiTown to become relevant in the NBA again.
Those ten years were fortunately ended with the arrival of Chicago’s best hope to contend again since the days of Jordan. In 2008, the Bulls’ picked Derrick Rose from the University of Memphis with the number one pick. Right from the get-go, the young rookie would go on to lead a roster consisting of Luol Deng, Joakim Noah, and Ben Gordon, among others, to a 41-41 record and a playoff spot that season.

March Madness MVP Odds 2021 - Most Outstanding Player Odds

Apr 14, 2021 - 9:19 AM ET
Making the Final Four and winning the national title during March Madness takes a team effort, but among those championship teams is always one standout player named the most outstanding player.
March Madness MVP odds is a relatively new betting market in most jurisdictions, but there can certainly be value found—especially if you have a good feeling which team will be crowned champion on April 5.
Update: Jared Butler cashed in as March Madness MVP in 2021. Butler was available at +500 prior to the national championship game and interestingly was the pre-tournament favorite to win the award at +590.

Pat Dooley: SEC Memories - ESPN 98.1 FM

1.Grown men cried.
The first one is always the most emotional. I remember walking in 2005 with my friend Steve Hummer of the Atlanta Journal Constitution outside the Georgia Dome after the semifinals. There was a ticket booth for students of both finalists. One for Florida. One for Kentucky. The kids were waiting for the windows to open so they get tickets for the big game.
The Kentucky line was massive. There were two young men in the Florida line. I immediately called my editor to add that to the story as a way of showing what Florida would be facing Sunday. This was Cat-lanta, after all.

CHICAGO — Nikola Jokic dominated with 39 points and 14 rebounds, and the Denver Nuggets beat the Chicago Bulls 118-112 on Monday night.
Jokic finished with nine assists, just missing his 50th career triple-double. The three-time All-Star came up huge in the fourth quarter, scoring 17 to help the Nuggets come away with the win after blowing a 15-point lead.
“That's the luxury of having an MVP candidate,” coach Michael Malone said. “I see all these conversations about who would you want to start a franchise with. I've never seen Nikola's name mentioned, and I'm dumbfounded by that. My nominee — I've got a write-in nominee. Nikola Jokic is a guy I'd like to build a franchise with, like we've done here in Denver and had great success with."

Joakim Noah ends 13-season career and retires from the NBA

Card image cap

The 36-year-old confirmed earlier reports he planned to retire in a statement on Instagram.
"It was a hell of a ride," Noah wrote. "Thank you to all those who showed me love throughout my journey."
The two-time NBA All-Star, who was named the league's 2014 Defensive Player of the Year, eventually plans to retire as a member of the Chicago Bulls — the team that picked him in the 2007 Draft.
He joined the New York Knicks in 2016 but his appearances were limited by an injury as well as a 20-game suspension for a doping violation.
His time with the Memphis Grizzlies for the 2018-2019 campaign saw him average 7.1 points per game in 42 appearances.
