April 26, 2021 The City of Valdez Municipal Election is May 4th, 2021 KVAK Radio asked the candidates running for Mayor to tell us about themselves and share their thoughts on several questions. (Three year term) Clay Strickland Brief Biography: I was born in Valdez Alaska, graduated high school in Northern Michigan and went to two years of college there before being accepted into the UAF geology undergraduate program. I had financial difficulties as most 21 year olds do and started welding at Fairbanks Welding and Fabrication on Van Horn Rd. I later joined the Laborers Local 341 and began working for Ahtna Construction in the summer of 2001. I am a Second generation Pipeline Hand. I have been a member of Local 341 for over 20 years.
