More community cases confirmed on morning of February 2

VOV.VN - Vietnam detected five more community cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) as of 10.am. on February 2, including three in Quang Ninh, one in Hanoi, and one in Gia Lai.
Earlier, one case of local transmission in Hai Duong, the biggest COVID-19 hotbed in the nation, was confirmed by the Ministry of Health in early February 2 morning. As a result,  the overall number of community transmission cases nationwide has reached 276 since the latest outbreak began on January 28.
Following the latest case in the capital, an individual tested positive for COVID-19 in Dich Vong ward of Cau Giay district after coming into contact with an infected patient,  raising Hanoi’s infection tally to 20 over the last six days. ....

COVID-19 patient in Ho Chi Minh City found carrying UK coronavirus variant

A COVID-19 patient who is receiving treatment in Ho Chi Minh City has been found carrying the new coronavirus variant originating in the UK.
The variant was detected in patient No. 1,660, Dr. Nguyen Van Vinh Chau, director of the Ho Chi Minh City Hospital for Tropical Diseases, confirmed on Monday.
The infirmary’s research group led by Dr. Chau, in coordination with molecular biology experts from Oxford University Clinical Research Unit (OUCRU) represented by Dr. Le Van Tan, previously conducted the genome sequencing of the SARS-CoV-2 virus variant in the patient’s throat swab. ....

Vietnam’s latest success story is in the health sector, senior journalist Veeramalla Anjaiah wrote in his article, titled “Learning from Vietnam on how to handle COVID-19”, published on the Jakarta Post on December 28.
According to the article,  Vietnam, with 97.75 million people and a long border with China, has just 1,438 COVID-19 cases and 35 deaths as of December 25.
