Charity shop bosses have urged people to stop donating patently unsellable items, as they are deluged by mountains of bags from spring cleans.
The Charity Retail Association (CRA) has warned the public to avoid dropping off disgusting or really badly broken pieces to their local shop, as they end up having to be thrown away.
Its warning comes amid an influx of donations, believed to be the result of many Britons spending lockdowns decluttering their homes. ....

Oxfam said the current approach for global production and distribution of COVID-19 vaccines is falling far short of what is needed.
The inequality in COVID-19 vaccine distribution is hitting low and middle-income countries harder, with India likely to lose $786 billion, or over 27 per cent of GDP, because of global vaccine inequities, non-profit group Oxfam has said.
Citing estimates of the International Chamber of Commerce, Oxfam said vaccine inequality at today s scale could cost the world around $9.2 trillion in economic losses, in the worst-case scenario, with rich countries suffering half of that blow. Billionaires Added $4 Trillion to Their Wealth During the Pandemic


The world s 2,365 billionaires added $4 trillion to their collective wealth, it found.
A January Oxfam report said billionaires global gains could pay for everyone s vaccine.
From March 18, 2020, to March 18, 2021, the world s billionaires added $4 trillion to their wealth, according to a new report from the left-leaning Institute for Policy Studies (IPS).
That s a 54% increase for the world s 2,365 billionaires, who now have $12.39 trillion. The wealthiest 20 billionaires alone added $742 billion to their collective wealth during a pandemic a 68% increase.

Two Non-governmental organisations, Youth and Society (YAS) and Oxfam Malawi, have written the office of the Chief Justice, expressing their concerns over what they call “imposition of lenient sentences” by the lower courts in sentencing sexual offenses.

They say these “huge discrepancies” in sentencing sexual offences undermine the “bar” the High Court raised in sentences imposed in such cases.
YAS and Oxfam Malawi have since asked the office of the chief justice to formulate “sentencing guidelines” for subordinate courts in sexual offences.
