Q: Is there an issue that has shaped all of your work?
I am a network scientist. When I look at the world, I see patterns of social interaction and social networks. I’ve spent the first two decades of my career documenting social epidemics using advanced, computational analytics.
Contagion processes infectious diseases, for example are often modeled through social networks. I study phenomena that spread not through a biological mechanism but through social contagion.
Whether it’s the rapid increase in autism cases, mental health medication use, or opioid use disorder, these phenomena, despite having radically different contexts, exhibit very similar patterns a rapid increase in cases and a huge amount of geographic variation. Those two things are the signature of social epidemics. My work has been trying to understand how these rapid increases arise from individual-level behavior.  ....

Despite the longstanding notion that businesses exist primarily to generate profit, more and more organizations are adopting a new vision: servant leadership, in which leaders prioritize multiple stakeholders and improve society, while prospering financially.
Research led by James Lemoine, assistant professor of organization and human resources in the School of Management, shows how major companies are using servant leadership to benefit teams, the community and the bottom line and how other executives can become servant leaders themselves.

UW Students and Employees Aiding in Albany County Vaccine Efforts
Students and employees from the University of Wyoming are aiding in Albany County s COVID-19 vaccination efforts.
The multidisciplinary efforts are part of a partnership involving UW, Albany County Public Health (ACPH), Ivinson Memorial Hospital (IMH), and local pharmacies that has provided the vaccine to 4,330 county residents so far.
Since the start of the calendar year, UW employees and student volunteers have been working with ACPH and IMH professionals to conduct vaccination clinics at the former Mountain View Medical Park building, Around 20 students and clinical faculty members in UW’s School of Pharmacy have been part of the effort. ....
