A malware cyberattack on emissions testing company Applus Technologies is preventing vehicle inspections in eight states, including Connecticut, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Massachusetts, Utah, and Wisconsin.
On Tuesday, March 30th, vehicle emissions testing platform Applus Technologies suffered a malware attack that caused them to disconnect their IT systems.
Unfortunately, incidents such as this are fairly common and no one is immune, said Darrin Greene, CEO of the US entity, Applus Technologies, Inc. We apologize for any inconvenience this incident may cause. We know our customers and many vehicle owners rely on our technology and we are committed to restoring normal operations as quickly as possible. ....

This Tiny Country Could Become Europe’s Newest Oil Producer
By Viktor Katona - Apr 04, 2021, 10:00 AM CDT
It is rather rare to see enthusiasm for completely new exploration projects in Europe. The overwhelming majority of OECD countries are either in terminal decline or are looking into ways how to ban exploration altogether. The less-appraised parts of Eastern Europe might still have some potential yet in the absence of oil majors such endeavors risk remaining a lifelong pipe dream. Still, the appearance of a new European frontier can rekindle upstream hopes (even if for a short period of time). Europe’s latest addition to the list of nations willing to tap into their prospective hydrocarbon resources is located in the southeast of the Old Continent, in Montenegro. The small ex-Yugoslav republic with just slightly more than 600 000 inhabitants has witnessed its first offshore well spudded on March 25, 2021. The 4118-5-1 wildcat was drill ....

The Most Anticipated Licensing Round Of 2021

The Most Anticipated Licensing Round Of 2021
By Viktor Katona - Apr 03, 2021, 12:00 PM CDT
The energy markets have seen several major upsets during the 21st century yet one can state fairly confidently that the market slump of 2020-2021 has triggered the most damage of them all. This is also true for international licensing where dozens of rounds were delayed, either to 2021 or indeterminately, for fear of not generating enough interest amidst drastic CAPEX cuts and massive divestment schemes. The end result is that 2020 was the weakest year in terms of total acreage awarded to oil and gas companies since 2002 (0.35 million km2), roughly a third of what it was in 2019. The price rebound of February-March 2021 will provide a suitable springboard for new licensing round – it is this momentum that Egypt will try to capitalize on with its latest licensing round.  Egypt’s last licensing round was held in 2019, then the Red Sea auctioning saw 3 blocks allocated b ....
