Increased Security Approved for Laguna Beach City Buildings
Laguna Beach city council has unanimously approved funding for increased security systems to be installed at city hall, its police department, and the city’s administrative building.
The contract was awarded April 6 to Am-Tech Security and Network Solutions Inc. at a total cost of about $185,000.
The plan includes the installation of 23 cameras to be mounted both inside and outside of the buildings, and 37 key cards that would be used by city staff to access exterior doors, as well as some interior department area doors.
The security recommendations were made after a joint evaluation conducted by the Laguna Beach Police Department and the Orange County Intelligence Assessment Center (OCIAC). ....

Huntington Beach man arrested by FBI for alleged participation in Jan. 6 attack on U.S. Capitol

A Huntington Beach man was arrested early Thursday morning after FBI agents connected him to social media posts and at least one video that placed him at the entryway of the U.S. Capitol building during the Jan. 6 riot, authorities said.
Mark Steven Simon faces federal charges of unlawful entry into a restricted building with the intent to disrupt government business and engaging, in unlawful activities on Capitol grounds.
FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller confirmed agents arrested Simon outside a Huntington Beach residence at 6 a.m. Thursday. He was being held in federal custody and was scheduled to appear in court in Santa Ana that afternoon. ....
